Engagement Strike! {Binghamton Area Wedding Photographer}

In some circles the word "strike" can be a very unfabulous word.... however, in the world of bowling, it can lead to high fives and squeals of delight! (Okay, maybe some people don't squeal, but in my world of bowling... I squeal...) For Sarah and Dustin, the long glossy alleys, the sounds of crashing pins, and the colorful shoes led them to each other, and their lifelong commitment to one another. Bowling has played a large part in their lives, and with the business in the family, I'm sure it will continue for the many years they will share together as husband and wife.

Thank you to Ideal Lanes for giving us the perfect setting for Sarah and Dustin's engagement session! (And for the fun night of birthday bowling last week! Our crew had a blast!) =)

Firefighter, Family Tradition {Binghamton Area Photographer}

No matter if it is a career or volunteer firefighter, becoming a member of the fire service is often times a family tradition. A young son or daughter grows up and watches a parent serve his or her community in a very selfless way and they want to do the same. Firefighters train for any number of circumstances they may come across: structure fires, motor vehicle accidents (anything from motorcycles to the big rigs), medical emergencies, and even water rescue. They train on a regular basis so that at the drop of the tones on their pagers, they can drop what they are doing, kiss their families, and run out the door to respond. Maybe they were just hanging out at home, maybe they were eating dinner with the family, maybe in the midst of bowling on the Wii with the kids. Doesn't matter, someone needs help, and they are called to respoond.

Many people don't realize what it takes, many people just take for granted the fact that if they need help there are "people there" who will help them out. Until I experienced life as a firefighter's wife, I was in the 2nd category. I never thought about the people that responded to emergencies. I never thought about if it was their career that they chose or whether they were volunteering their time to serve the community. It never crossed my mind even once.

My husband grew up watching his father, and as any boy does, looked up to him. His father is a paramedic by trade and also volunteered for a number of years with his local fire department. Now my husband serves in the local fire department with a long list of other voluteers, and our oldest son Colton (currently age 11) aspires to join the department as soon as he is of age. He is proud of his dad's service and looks forward to serving with him. Every year at school his teachers comment on this. It is very much a part of who Colton is. I have to tell you that watching our son is like getting a glimpse into my husband when he was a boy.

Colton came home from school a couple of months ago with a poem he had written called I AM. The poem is about being a young junior firefighter and it brought tears to our eyes when we read it. Listening to Colton read it in his own voice was one of those golden parent moments when you just burst with pride in your child. Words can't even express how we felt. There were some tears that did a better job of that...

This Christmas Colton and I sat down together to look over some images I took a couple of years ago of the kids with Steve in his bunker gear. Colton helped select the perfect image to go with his poem and we put them together to print for Steve and his father for Christmas. He was soooo excited and couldn't wait for them to open their prints! Now that Christmas has passed and the gifts have been opened, I would love to share it with all of you. Before I do, I'd like to say a few thank you's...

Thank you to all of you who serve others in your communities. You are the ones who run to the scene when everyone else runs away. You have something inside of you that is truly incredible that makes your hearts unique. Thank you to the families who support the loved ones in their lives that possess this unique gift, it's not always easy to shift your plans and send them away with a kiss and a quick , "Be safe!"

To my father-in-law, thank you for shaping the man my husband is today. His desire to serve other people in this way comes from watching you. I see that so clearly as I watch and listen to Colton as he grows. To my husband, I'm so very proud of you and so are our children. Thank you for being such a positive role model to our kids. We all love you very much. And to Colton, I'm your mom, so I'll always be a little on the protective side, but I'm proud of your dreams, and I will support you, no matter what. I love you.

The blog has been feeling neglected, but I have just the gal to spruce it back up! Miss Chelsey is a senior this year and she has a smile as bright as the sun! Chelsey used to be a music student of mine, once upon a time and the thing I remember most about her was how she used to bounce into my room with a sparkling smile on her face. It's been a number of years now since I've seen her and I was happy to see that her sparkle remains. Enjoy your senior year Chelsey, I'm so proud of you!

Imported Sunshine! {Binghamton Area Wedding Photographer}

Those of you who are local to the Binghatmon, NY area know that lately, our skies have been grey and wet, wet, wet! A couple of weekends ago I was getting even more antsy for the sunshine than usual. Joyce and Geoff had made plans to head this way from New Jersey for their engagement session as well as some other wedding planning activities in the finger lakes area.

Thankfully, they imported some of the sunshine from the coast when they headed over! Phew! Granted, we could have rocked the umbrella's and played in some puddles, but I'm not sure Joyce may have had her wardrobe planned for that.

This was the first time I got to spend a good bit of time with just Joyce and Geoff with no one else around. Joyce could not stop laughing! Geoff was talking a mile a minute and he just kept her grinning, giggling, laughing! It was so truly infectious! I love leaving a couple and having my cheeks hurt from all of the smiling and laughing! I cannot wait for their wedding this fall! The finger lakes in the fall... breathtaking location!

Inspirations {Binghamton Area Photographer}

It can be so easy to get caught up in getting things done that we forget to just experience joy and pleasure in the things that we love to do. For me, one of my loves is photography... but, I'm quite certain that is more than a little obvious, right? Usually my joyous moments in photography come in the form of taking shots of my children, but last week I siezed the opportunity to work with some beautiful people that stand a little taller than three apples high.

I recently added a ring light to my arsenal and I have been itching to work with it a bit on my own. Pull together a few fabulous models and I got two evenings of shooting for the bliss of shooting and trying new things! Ladies, (and David!) you were amazing and I thank you for joining in my madness!

With the joy of shooting also came the joy of post processing. Here is one of my favorite results from trying something a little different.

I would like to give a special nod to Mr. D for being an awesome sport! He came along with his girlfriend and didn't expect to get in front of the camera. However... he came around a let me snap a few and I'm so glad he did. D, you look amazing! Seriously, ladies, am I kidding? Incredible!

It seems like just a month ago Mr. J's big brother was this tiny in front of my camera.... ok, so neither brother was very tiny. Both of them weighed in at over 9 pounds! But, I digress! Big brother is toddling around like a champ these days and can't seem to stop kissing his adorable baby brother! Can you see why? These cheeks are super kissable, and I can tell you that Mr. J is the most perfect snuggler! Not surprised though, since big brother gives the sweetest kisses and hugs!

Spring is coming! The crocuses are blooming and the tulips are pushing forth through the chilly earth. Today's love was being outside in the sun with no coat on, hearing the creaking of the swingset and the giggles of my children. If the "super full moon" weren't out tonight, the darkness might seem like a complete waste! I do suppose it is the perfect time to sit at the computer and work on some of the images that I need to get posted. As the first set loaded, I decided to reminisce a bit and landed on this beauty that set my heart aflutter for spring all over again. This, my dear New Yorkers, is what we have to look forward to very very soon!

Photographic Treasures

I was going through some photos of when my twins were babies today and found a photo of my grandfather when he was just a baby. Already I had forgotten that I added that image to their book, but my heart melted all over again at the reason. Our oldest son and our daughter were each a ringer, no contest on who Colton looks like (his daddy) and who Ella looks like (mini-me). Then there was Aidan. He shared some features of both sides of the family, but at that point in time, we came to find out he was the spitting image of my grandfather as a baby.

What an amazing blessing that we have that photograph of him! I always liked going through photos and seeing the family resemblences when I was younger and now that I have my own children it's fun to do with them as well! Colton grins and asks questions, and the twins giggle about seeing other family members (mommy and daddy included) when they were babies.

Oftentimes we don't realize that the very things we treasure in the present will still be around when we are gone. The memories that we capture today that make us look for the link to ourselves, ask questions about our family, giggle and even cry will still be around for generations to come. Photos are a gift... even though you will never see some of the people who will discover such treasure.

Here are some of our family treasures... May they inspire you to dust off some of your own family treasures and share them with your children.

The little girl is his mother (aka my great-grandmother) with her parents (my great-great grandparents) Even though I never met these people, I see my Great Uncle Mick in my great-great grandfather and I see my grandfather's face in that of my great-great grandmother. My son's chubby little cheeks, straight from my great-grandmother. Talk about priceless.

This is my grandmother's senior portrait. I had the incredible blessing of living next door to my grandparents until I left home. They were married for 61 years before she passed away. I love them both incredibly and carry them in my heart always. <3

On a chilly New York afternoon, nothing seems to keep you warmer than love! And if that is a little too cliche' for you, at the very least, getting to spend the afternoon with a newly engaged couple is the best distraction from the slacking thermometer that I can think of. Ryan proposed to his lovely bride-to-be just in time to be whisked away for career training. We managed to squeak in some of their precious together time for some shots to celebrate their engagement! The Redman family wanted to go urban and this time of year, it's the perfect thing to do! We were blessed with amazing weather for November in NY... it was almost 60 degrees!

Chloe Turns One! ~~ Binghamton Area Family Photographer ~~

It doesn't seem like it's been a entire year, but it really has! Over the past year I've fallen in love with Miss Chloe and her entire family. We've had so much fun together and so many things have happened! Watching a child experience all of the milestones in their first year of life is such a blessing and I would love to share a few with all of you! Chloe started out as a snuggly, sleepy little peanut and with every visit something new and exciting was happening!

At 5 months, she was the smiliest little boo and just starting to sit up on her own. When she fell over, she grabbed her little toes and giggled and flashed her incredible blue eyes up at everyone.

When 9 months rolled around her happy disposition was still solidly in place. One small glitch started a few grumpies... turns out Chloe wasn't so thrilled about her feet or legs touching the grass. Thankfully, being the cheerful bean that she is, it didn't take much to distract her and bring out the smiles!

And now, at a year, what a happy girl! I pray that Miss Chloe and her baby blues will always look at the world through rose colored glasses and spread the sunshine to everyone she meets. Her happiness is truly contagious!

The Sweetest Couple ever! ~~ Ithaca Wedding Photographer ~~

Yes, I seriouly mean the sweetest couple ever! Whitney and Michael have been such a joy to work with in so many ways! Their wedding day was covered in bright yellow sunshine. Not only am I writing about the weather, but included in the sunshine is Whitney's glowing face and bright personality, the yellow linens and flowers, and the sunny lemons that adorned the tables.

After many years together, Whitney and Michael came together surrounded by their loved ones on a lovely little dock floating over Cayuga Lake. One of the most touching moments of the ceremony was Whitney's trip down the aisle. Many brides come down the aisle arm in arm with their fathers, but Whitney's father did the most beautiful thing. As the string quartet played, he wrapped his arm around his precious baby girl and held her close as they walked out onto the dock together. A seemingly small gesture, but truly a special moment.

The ceremony was as unique as Whitney and Michael and was written by the bride. So much thought and love was put into each and every word spoken. Sparklers lined the path as the new Mr. and Mrs. left the dock to greet their guests. After the guests gave hugs and kisses and many congratulations, we stole away and spent some time at a nearby waterfall where Whitney and Michael were able to soak up those first moments of being husband and wife.

The reception that followed had the most fun party atmosphere! The bridal party started out with a classic bridal party song, but broke out into a choreogaphed number that had everyone smiling and bouncing along. The DJ, Rich Birdsall, kept the party going and the dance floor full!

Tessa and Ray! New York Wedding Photographer

Tessa and Ray's wedding day had the most intense start, with an uncertain ending, yet had one of the coolest brides I have ever seen! The morning of the wedding found the groom in the hospital after emergency surgery the night before and the bride waiting to hear from the staff if he was going to be released to attend their wedding. Talk about nail biting, right?

Thankfully, he was released and their day carried on as planned... with some minor modifications, a groom with a strong resolve, a bride with a cool manner, and a bridal party with a fun sense of humor, sunglasses, and some eye patches!

Tessa and Ray's wedding was in Binghamton in an outdoor courtyard at Terra Cotta and they couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day for such a setting! The courtyard was shaded by tranquil greenery and accented with lovely flowers by Missy Bidwell.

Their reception was full of laughter, dancing, and even a few tests for the bride and groom led by DJ Tom Anushutz. I must add, that Tessa and Ray passed the compatibility test with FLYING colors... and blue shoes. ;) If you've never heard about the tradition of tossing the Best Man's boutineer... just ask Tessa, I'm sure she'll be more than happy to share with you!

Surprise for Daddy! Binghamton Area Photographer

Tonight I was burning a few DVD's and watched this one from earlier this summer. Terri and the boys met up with me to create a little surprise for their Dad. All of the boys in the house (yes, Dad included...) are _very_ into hockey.... okay, maybe that is a slight understatement... Eat, sleep, and breathe hockey would be a much more accurate description! They educated me on the different jerseys and which team they were for and I even got to see them in action! Check it out for yourself!

Naomi and David recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary surrounded by four generations of their beautiful family! So lately I've neglected the blog. It's that busy time of year with shooting and editing and getting out to enjoy the beautiful days with my family and friends! Another wedding will be coming up on the blog soon as well as a gorgeous little family, but for today I will leave you with some priceless shots I captured of my two youngest a few months back.

One night I set up my studio, (when my husband would not be around, mind you...) The mission that night was to get brave and unleash my twin 3 year olds on a white backdrop, a couple of canvases, several brushes, and a few pots full of paint! Are you questioning my sanity, yet? Well, I did invite their big brother to participate, but he declined. Being 6 years older he thought Mom's idea might be a little too crazy and possibly a little better suited for preschoolers.

My husband ended up arriving to see the aftermath (a quick pic of that was posted on facebook right after the session). Steve took one look at the paint and said, "You know you're cleaning all of that up, right?" HAHA! "Of course!" I told him! I was sailing on the rush of all of the laughs along the way that led to the swirled and smeared mess of paint and didn't mind a single bit.

As I was washing them up in the tub, the twins asked if we could do it again the next day! It so fits them both, from my son who did not want to get a bit of paint on his hands or feet in the beginning, to my daughter who really gets into her work... you'll see what I mean... =) Hope you enjoy the end result, we had a blast creating it!

Lori and Tom {Binghamton Area Wedding Photographer}

Last Saturday Lori and Tom started their life together as husband and wife. They traveled quite the road to get there and I am certain that they are a stronger couple for it. Peonies perfumed the air and the sun was out in all of its brilliance. Their wedding day was charged with many emotions, lots of love, and a fun loving group of family and friends. Lori and Tom, thank you for letting me capture your wedding day and be a part of this incredible celebration!

This first glimpse is one of my favorite moments! We went around the side of the church where they were able to steal their first few moments of being husband and wife together. There was this moment that they looked at each other and the realization of their marriage bloomed over their faces! Incredible!

The buttercups offered a beautiful place to get in a little practice for their first dance at their reception.

Congratulations to Whitney and Michael as they prepare to start their lives as husband and wife! After eight years together, I'm quite certain they've heard, "It's about time!" more times than they can count! We took some time out from the hustle and bustle of wedding plans to hike out in the fields and lounge by the pond. Michael and Whitney even let loose a bit to show me their best Twist and Charleston! It was a beautiful day to be out in nature and especially with a couple that acts so natural together. Right around the corner is the wedding of Tessa and Ray! We went out to have a little photo fun and Ray scored some major brownie points... when I asked them if there was any part of wedding planning that was the most fun Ray chimed right in with, "The photography!" Gotta love it! However, he has yet to see Tessa in her gown, so I know I won't be ranking so high before too long!

Tessa and Ray have a bit of a competitive streak that came out during their session so I have to tell you about one of the games they love to play. Every week the scrabble board comes out. After seeing the scrabble board... one of the two that they keep on hand... It has seen a lot of use! My favorite use, however, was the proposal. Ray meticulously set up the board to propose, only to have it nearly wiped out before his carefully planned message was read.

As you can see, Tessa did get to read the board, and most importantly, she said YES! Congratulations to the two of you! And Tessa, welcome to the FD family... "officially" (seeing as how we already consider you part of the crew!)

Precious Girl {Binghamton area newborn photograher}

And this precious little baby makes three! Looks like Mr. T is no longer the "baby" of the family. It was time to make room for sweet baby Courtney! An afternoon with her was like a little piece of heaven... she's so tiny, so sweet, and completely perfect! Congratulations on your little blessing Laura and Randy! Take the time now to enjoy every little newborn nuzzle and those sweet little noises she makes.

Spring Daffodils

Last weekend I was able to go to the most amazing place in our area! The subjects are my beautiful friend, Robin and her sweet little daughter. It was a fun girly afternoon full of frilly daffodils. Hair it is! ~Hair Donation Time!~

So spring is here and everything is coming up new and beautiful outside. Time to start the gardens over and get going on home improvements and... time for a fresh new look! For quite some time I've been growing my hair, and anyone who has seen me recently knows, if nothing else, that I have quite a bit of hair! Not only is it long, but it is very thick and very heavy! On the unfortunate side of things, there are many people out there who lose their hair, either temporarily or permanently for reasons beyond their control.

Thankfully, there are some wonderful organizations out there that collect donated hair to create beautiful wigs for those in need! I'm sure most of you have heard of Locks of Love. Pantene also has an organization called Beautiful Lengths. Each organization benefits different people and each organization has its own requirements of your hair for donation. Please visit their websites linked above to learn more!

Just to add a little twist of fun and to encourage those of you with long and lovely locks to donate yours, I'm having a little contest! I won't be making the final choice on my new look... you will! Once I've finished this post, I will be setting up a poll with three new hairstyles and you get to vote! The one you pick is the one I will go with!

Laura and Randy {Vestal Area Maternity Photographer}

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to meet Laura and Randy and their baby-to-be! Randy is considerably taller than his lovely bride so as we were discussing making her a little taller she mentioned that she could grab her heels. Seriously? Eight months prengant and Laura still fit fabulously in her heels! Black or red? Red, all the way! I have a weakness, and Laura found it! Ha! Congratulations Laura and Randy! In Albany for conference!

We arrived in Albany today for the state photography conference. Usually about now I'm wrapping up editing for the evening, but being in a new bed on a different time schedule and with roomies doesn't help the sleep factor! Know the feeling? I have some excellent roomies, don't get me wrong, but I am not the world's best sleeper to begin with! Throw a new place in and forget about it!! It's also a bit like anticipating Christmas morning... I'm excited to meet a lot of new people, see some amazing work by other photogs and learn some fabulous new things! I'll post more when I can, until then I'm off to read my eBook until my lids begin to droop. My phone is truly indespensible when I travel! So many things in one handy device! Have an excellent night all!

Today is a super happy day here at D'LyndL Photography! Our new website just went live this morning! A lot of time has gone into making adjustments, reformatting, and selecting the images to post. A few more may still be added, but I did want to leave some space open for new sessions! Head on over and check it out! Dates for spring sessions are now posted. Some have already been snatched up, so be sure to reserve your date before they are gone!

Quick look at London!

Last year my husband surprised me with a whirlwind trip to London! We had an amazing time and best of all, he planned it all under my nose! From digging out my passport to making arrangements for our children, it was all done. WOW! I was rendered speechless, which really doesn't happen very often. =)

Tonight was a restless night so I got up to play with the new website that is about to launch and then pulled up a few of the images from London. Here's one for now and more to come in the near future. We were on the bridge beside Big Ben looking over to the London Eye. This was shortly after our ride on the London Eye. INCREDIBLE views of London from up there!

Hopefully this post finds everyone all dug out from our recent pile on of snow! For those of you not in the area, the snow we are left with is wet and _HEAVY_! After a bit of a session indoors for the adorable 5 month old Chloe and her big sister Ariana, we headed outside for a few shots in the snow. Their daddy got to work out his muscles pulling the tobagan through the dense and deep snow! Quite the challenge to navigate through, but it was so beautiful outside!

No matter where we were, Miss Chloe was the happiest little sweetie! Miss Chloe debuted here when she was just 10 days old! A little snuggle muffin to start, Chloe is just starting to sit up on her own and giggles like crazy when her sister makes silly sounds and faces at her!

The newest Mets Fan {Binghamton Area Newborn Photographer}

The newest little Mets fan has been born! His name is Elias and he has the most adorable, tiny little nose that you have every seen! Little Eli's parents are true "naturals" at being Mommy and Daddy. Sit down in their living room and just soak in the peace, the love, and the pure joy that spreads across their faces with every little thing that Eli does and even in those moments where he is perfectly still and not doing a thing.

Congratulations Jessica and Jon! He is a handsome and super snuggly little blessing!

Ok, seriously, check out those lips! He was making the cutest faces during this set of shots! I couldn't decide, so I posted another on Facebook. Too cute!

Madison Turns One!

Madison's first birthday arrived, despite all of her mommy's attempts to stop it from happening. As much as we wish our babies would stay babies just a little longer, they grow up before we can catch our breath! Miss Madison's 1st year has definitely been well documented through photographs, capturing every little change! Tiny little baby toes to chunky toddler feet, just on the verge of walking... the finest head of hair to the start of her curls... and her precious rose bud lips have now burst open to those first pearly teeth! Happy birthday Miss Madison!

And, a special thank you to the Black-Eyed Peas! Miss Madison got a little cranky near bed time, but once she heard Boom Boom Pow... she couldn't stop dancing!

A little slugger is about to be born into the Mets Fanclub! Meet Jon and Jess and their little bundle-to-be! This couple has invested so much of themselves into other people's children at our church, and now it's time for them to have their very own! Something unique about Jon and Jess is "the glow". Pregnant Mommies are notorious for glowing, but I have to tell you that Jess is not the only one glowing. Now, don't get me wrong, I know that new daddies are excited, but Jon truly does have a glow about him, too! Their little bambino is coming into a house full of love... and plenty of Mets paraphernalia! Congratulations!

Amanda and Brian are expecting baby number 2 in the very near future! He or she has an absolutely adorable big sister who has been a D'LyndL baby since her 3rd week on earth and debuted again when she turned one! Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending time with this adorable family! We played blocks and even got to go on a little adventure walk outside. Their daughter was not quite so certain of my camera, but by the end of our time together she insisted on holding my hand as we walked back to the house from the river bank! Such a cutie! Thank you to my wonderful husband for heading to Syracuse to get my phone replaced this weekend! I had 2 appointments and a session this Saturday, so he went and replaced my phone, along with all of our kids! They did get to enjoy the carousel there, and the fun toy store, too! Bonus for all!

So, it's official, my phone is back in working order! Thank you for your patience!

Friends, Forever and a Day...

So, this is my friend Jen. Jen and I have been friends from the beginning... so far back in the beginning that our grandmothers were friends! I honestly don't know a time when I didn't know her. Life happens as it does and we unfortunately don't get to see one another as much as we used to, in fact, no where close... however, the most awesome part is that no matter how long it's been since we've been together, we pick up like we've never been apart.

I got an email from her a few months ago saying that she needed some photos of her with her son and she wanted to come visit for the weekend, hang out, take photos, and catch up. We had a fabulous weekend, did the whole girlie thing, fixing our hair, trading hair products, the list goes on.

To add to our fun and our tradition, we both had our first sons in the year 2000, hers in August, mine in October. So now, such a blessing, our boys are just like us. You would have thought the two of them hang out together all the time. My wish for them is to have a friendship that endures and is forever comfortable, just like ours.

Just a few shots for now, more will come later on Facebook, once I catch up my blog. (More sneak peeks are right around the corner!) Jen turned the camera on me and we had my guy take a few of us together. So many pictures in just 2 days!

Last weekend I hopped on a plane to Michigan to capture the nuptuals of Georgianne and Randy! We had brunch together on Friday to discuss the final details and I have to tell you the two of them are just incredible to be around! Their joy is so contagious my cheeks actually trembled from all of the smiling! Now weddings are an emotional time for everyone, but everyone displays it differently and with George and Randy, they truly just beamed! They told me about how they met, the proposal, special songs, and those fun little stories tripped by one thing or another that was mentioned in our conversations. All the while they grinned and tears glistened in their eyes. So many amazing emotions, all making it clearly evident they are the perfect pair! And to think.... this day all began with George accepting a chocolate milkshake... ;)

Just a few posts back you saw a beautiful pregnant mama, and I now have the pleasure of introducing you to her amazingly adorable baby boy, Master Brendan! This weekend I had the pleasure of heading out for the most fun session! Mr. Aidan was a riot a minute! We chit chatted the entire time like we've known each other for his entire life! This boy has the most amazing imagination, truly! He played "Ship" with me, had serious discussions with me about the clothing worn by the leprechaun in my camera, and we even got to catch crayfish and be pirates! All the while he took me on a tour of their beautiful property and introduced me to the horses and the infamous Nitro. Nitro is their spunky and most energentic chocolate lab!

Speaking of labs... Miss Charlotte is the _only_ person we will leave our lab with when we head out of town. Whenever you are in need of a kennel, give them a call over at Stay and Play Pet Care. The grounds are phenomenal and the care your four-legged family member will receive can't be beat! (Shameless plug, I know, but seriously, our boy gets so excited to go!)

50 Golden Years Together!

This weekend Mr. and Mrs. James celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary! Little did they know, their 3 children along with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were planning a little bit of a surprise! All 22 of them gathered together to celebrate! At one point, their daughters Jessica and Kathy read a summary of those 50 years together, detailing how they built their family through the years. There wasn't a dry eye in the house, including my own. One of their gifts was a framed print that says "A Family is God's Masterpiece." Irv and Brookie have been truly blessed with their family! Congratulations!

It is my pleasure to introduce Jenna and Colin as they anticipate the arrival of their first tiny miracle! We started their session in the most amazing location, tucked right behind the house of Colin's parents! Driving by, you never would have guessed the beauty tucked away behind their house. I completely felt like we had gone to some remote location! This session was an amazing heart experience. Jenna and Colin just melted into one another. If ever a couple was truly made for one another, it is them. They were just so natural and seamless together! Colin played the guitar for his beautiful bride and their growing baby boy while the water streamed over the rocks. It was like a little piece of heaven here on earth. Jenna has given so much of herself to the babies and toddlers at our church, it will be amazing to see her with their very own baby boy.

Ok, so this is actually a "pre-sneak-peek." I have had a couple of ideas popping around in my brain for a few months now and was able to bring them to life today! The beauty you are about to see is actually D'LyndL Photography's first official client and my friend Abbey! Last week our cousin got married! The wedding was beautiful, and I must say the flower girl and ring bearer were the most precious little angels ever! Ok, so I'm a little biased. My role in this wedding was not the photographer, it was mother of the ring bearer and flower girl, and mother of the bulletin passer-outer as well!

Speaking of the photographer... She was the fabulous Katie Mihalak! Katie and I have been chatting online for quite while now trying to coordinate a time to get together to shoot, and as it turns out, this was our first chance. We had big dreams, but little time together between her doing her job and me keeping track of the kids and visiting with family. However, we did get a small patch of time getting my two tiny tots together with John and Shelly.

Here are a few of my shots as well as some images of Katie at work! The family is loving Katie's sneak peeks and are looking forward to the final reveal! Thank you Katie, and I hope we can really coordinate our schedules soon!

The most adoarable, hugable, and cheek pinchable Miss Madison just turned 6 months old! She has changed so much since her newborn session! The first year of life is truly an incredible time in our lives. Infants learn so many new things during this time and they grow and change so much that if you blink you miss it! Thankfully Miss Madison's Mommy and Daddy are treasuring every single moment!

I also have to say that Madison's newborn session is extra special to me because it actually brought our families together. Jen, Brian, and Madison have become treasured friends of ours! We would have found each other eventually since Brian and my husband are both volunteer firefighters, but this sped up our meeting and I'm so thankful for that!

Congratulations to Mike and Becky (two of my nearest and dearest!) on the celebration of 10 years of marriage! For their anniversary they decided to renew their vows in one of the places where they really kicked off their relationship. The ceremony was short and sweet, yet full of smiles and tears and included their two fabulous children. Instead of relighting their unity candle, they opted for unity sand so that the kids could be part of the ceremony as well. They day was so much fun! Here is just a snippet of their day... We had another little blessing added to our family on our anniversary! When tiny Master Thaddeus was two weeks old we got to go for a visit! The visit was brief, but full of family and lots of snuggles with Thad. Our three kiddos also enjoyed playing with their cousin Max. Max is getting sooo big and I must tell you his parents are training him well. He has a digital camera and kept wanting to get "kissing baby pictures". Sooo cute! Enjoy this little glimpse, and Congratulations Chris and Bonnie, and Max too! Love you guys!

Right before this shot was taken, Thad was letting us know he was done with pictures, however, once Max started driving the payloader over his tummy and his feet, he stopped to check out what his big brother was doing! We just had a fabulous vacation this weekend at Cape Henlopen State Park! I can't wait to share images with you! We had a bit of rain, but our last full day there ended up being pretty perfect. I do have to share a quote with you from my daughter. (I'll preface by saying that we went on vacation with our friends!) The girls decided to make a run to the store and leave the guys at camp. My twins (one boy, one girl) are very rarely apart. After heading into the first store and returning to the van, my 2 year old daughter yells out, "Oh no! We lost Aidan!" It was sooo adorable! Hope that gave you a smile for the day and images will be coming soon!

You have seen Alaina and Chris grace the top of my blog for quite some time now. This past weekend was their simply fabulous wedding day! Alaina was a gorgeous bride and as I've been going through the images this first thing I noticed is that her handsome groom could not take his eyes off of her! After a 10 year courtship that started in high school, these two deserved nothing less than perfection! The sun was shining, the skies were the most beautiful blue (after a week of rain, rain, and more rain!) and they were surrounded by everyone that loves them. And let me tell you, the reception was fun, fun, fun! First the polkas began, and then the bridal party danced to Billy Idol's White Wedding while donning matching black fedoras! The dancing didn't stop and even continued after the event "ended". A true celebration of Alaina and Chris and their commitment to one another. It's hard to believe that it's been about a year since I met this little beauty! This family has been a dream to work with. They are just so natural together and so playful! These are some shots from Miss Abigail's birthday party this weekend. The forecast looked grim, but thankfully the rain held off for the majority of the party. She was such a good little birthday girl and wow, did she _LOVE_ the frosting on her bright pink cupcake! Her daddy kept trying to feed her pieces of the cake, but she wanted nothing to do with the cake. For her, it was all about the frosting! Don't you just love her in all her sweetness?

Ok, so it's not really an introduction, this isn't the first time I've had the pleasure of having Alina in front of my camera, however, this is the first glimpse into her upcoming senior year! While my family and friends have been supportive, a couple of people have questioned why I would want to do something like that. I was just directed to the blog of another photographer, Jodified Photography, and if you follow that link, you will be able to understand.

Make-a-Wish Foudation

On May 9th, I will be participating in a 5K walk to raise funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. If you are not familiar with this organization, they grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Many of us have a "list" of things we would like to accomplish before our time on earth is through. Unfortunately, some children are faced with very brief time. Make-a-Wish helps make their dreams come true! What an incredible thing to do! I am thrilled to walk for this organization and I would love to raise a lot of funds so they can grant even more wishes!

Class of 2010, Here is your first Senior Model!

Time for a little glimpse of Ryan! Ryan is the first of D'LyndL's Senior Models for the Class of 2010! Ryan and his family (or "entourage" as I dubbed them!) were so much fun to work with! His sister was in charge of wardrobe and I am seriously considering taking her out as my personal stylist! But, I digress! They kept me laughing pretty much the whole time and Ryan was such a natural in front of the camera. I would tell you how completely photogenic he is, but I will let you see for yourselves!

For Easter I took the kiddos back to see the family. We had a fabulous time, and I get to share one of the highlights with you! My brother-in-law and his wife are expecting their second baby boy! We were able to get in a quick session before they headed home. As you will see, Bonnie is simply beautiful and it's incredible to see the way Chris looks at her. The most adorable part of the session was watching my nephew "play trucks" with his baby brother. Too cute!

Tiny, precious, and pink!

I had the pleasure of getting a tiny little 3 week old in front of my camera! She has a head full of thick, beautiful hair, and once you see her mommy, you'll see just where little Miss M gets it from! It's such a blessing to be able to share in the thrill of a family with their first born baby. All of the kisses and tiny little touches spread the most contagious joy! Thought I'd pop in and post real quick as I sit here in the Blogger's Lounge! I am having an incredible time here in Vegas! Carole and I have seen so many talented and inspiring speakers. We also got to head out in the sun today and walk down the strip. Don't worry fellow New Yorkers, it's really not that much warmer here! The trade show has been incredible and I found some amazing new vendors and picked up some new equipment that I can't wait to add to my bag of tricks. I am refreshed and renewed and look forward to a new season of shooting!

Yesterday was the last day in the Cutest Kid of 2009 contest and the race was intense! Little Blue-Eyed Blonde pulled ahead of Santa's Helper, and numbers climbed for some of the other contestants as well, but in the end, Santa's Helper pulled ahead and won. Thank you to all of the friends and family members that came to vote as well as my blog readers and all those folks out on the forums. I know a lot of readers of the different muscle car forums came on out to support Santa's Helper!

An FYI for those who know my work, Santa's Helper is probably best known as "The Baby on the Stairs". That shot was taken during his newborn session when he was just 5 days old! If you haven't seen it, or just want to see it again, head over to the main website and tiny Mr. J is in the slideshow on the main page. He is also featured in the First Glances gallery!

America's Next Top Model

This handsome guy may be familiar to my followers. You've seen him before in the photos of One Step Closer at Xtreme. Up until now my sessions with Pat have been full of music and bright, vibrant lighting. This past weekend I got to shoot Pat, unplugged so-to-speak! I was so excited when Pat approached me about being the photographer for his modeling portfolio. I got to spend a couple of hours with Pat, and his girlfriend came along too. We had so much fun! I could go on and on about them, but I'll refrain and get right to the glimpse behind the glass! More to come soon, Pat!

I thought I would kick of the year with a contest in anticipation of the gorgeous spring weather that will be coming soon! One Step Closer ~ Xtreme!

In my last post, I mentioned photographing for Xtreme. The band is One Step Closer (you'll find them in the archives, as well!) and, as usual, they were completely awesome! On this particular night they rocked out a new song, so new that it hasn't even been recorded yet. The crowd was hyped! Editing for these guys is almost complete. Tonight I headed over to New Life Ministries for a photo shoot of the Extreme service. For those of you not familiar, Extreme is the service for teens and their parents. This is my second time shooting for them and I absolutely love it because it gives me the opportunity to play with some truly unique lighting! There will be images to come as I edit, however I had to share one with you tonight. To understand the image, I'll give you a little background about the message.

Keep in mind the message was for the teens, but I don't think there are many people out there who wouldn't have been touched by Joe's message. The message was based on the fact that we are created in God's image. Yet, when we look in the mirror we pick ourselves apart... I'm too short, too tall, too fat, too skinny... and the list continues, and it's different for all of us. The end message was that the only voice that matters is God's voice, and He created us, and He did so in His image.

The image is of the mirror that Pastor Joe shattered during the message.

Ok, a couple of months ago I was on a Christmas mission for one of my friends. She asked me to watch her kids for a while one day, so as soon as the kids came over we started our Christmas plotting! The oldest, Miss A, was in charge of getting the triplets all dressed and ready in coordinating clothes and it went like clockwork! I had another friend come over to watch my kiddos so I was free to work. Let me tell you what troopers these kids were to make this surprise for their parents! It was _FREEZING_ cold that day and they lasted through, coats on, coats off, all for the love of mom and dad! Here are a few for you to check out! Oh, and of course you'll want to know... my friends were thrilled with the photos and it even made their mom cry! I love the fact I can say I made my friend cry and it's actually a good thing! It wasn't just the photos that made her cry... I'll have to see if I can share their DVD with you... Miss A has the most amazing voice and she recorded the song that played during the DVD. Everything came together sooo beautifully! What an experience to be able to do that for them! It was such a blessing!

Heading to Vegas!

I know I promised more photos the next time I posted, (coming later today, I _promise_!) However, I am super excited to announce that I will be heading to Las Vegas for WPPI in February! The flight is booked and most of the classes have been chosen! So many cool photographers to meet and so many great things to learn! I'll be meeting up with Carole of Carole Marie Photography and I'm sure between the two of us we should have some great images to post!

Antique Sleigh Sessions!

I've had requests for the details, and now they are finally here! On January 31st, D'LyndL Photography will be heading out to a local farm that will be hosting the Sleigh Mini-Sessions! This is the perfect time to get some fun shots as a couple or as a whole family. Your session will last for 30 minutes, so be prepared to come and laugh and love on each other. The mini-session package includes your session time, editing, 1 8x10 and 2 5x7 prints. The Sleigh Sessions are $75 for 2-4 people, each additional person is $10. Please contact Deb to schedule your session. Appointments are limited. I can't wait and I'll be wearing white socks in hopes that we have snow!

Wow! I can't believe how long it has been since my last post! The holidays kept me hopping this year, and I'm sure you all can relate!
